When SSW received this order, as well as for a further, structurally identical ferry ("Peter Pan") for the Hamburg TT-Line, it received an excellent reference, particularly as these two ships are the first two ferries in the world to have a diesel-electric pod propulsion, a system that has already been positively tried and tested in cruise liners.
The propellers are attached to a gondola at the stern of the ship and are driven by electromotors that are installed in the gondolas. This propulsion concept has the advantage of a higher loading capacity as well as greatly reducing vibration and noise.
Apart from this, these ships are not harmful to the environment as a result of various devices and measures.
